Slain traffic policeman’s son objects to release of Balochistan MPA Achakzai

QUETTA: The son of traffic police official Ataullah, who was crushed to death on GPO Chowk in the city, has objected over the release of MPA Abdul Majeed Achakzai.

While talking to media, Ataullah’s son, Moazzam, said they were extremely poor which is why they could not fight the case against Achakzai. “Had we hired a lawyer on our own, he [Achakzai] would not have been released.”
Therefore, Moazzam requested, the government handle the case on their own.
The deceased traffic policeman’s son also said that although it has been more than six months since his father was killed in the hit and run incident, the Balochistan government has not given them the compensation money as was promised.
“Our file is lying in the Chief Minister Secretariat since over a month, but nothing has been done about it.”
On June 20, Achakzai ran over Ataullah on GPO Chowk, injuring him fatally.
A sessions court had indicted him, but Achakzai refused to accept the charges against him.
The MPA was behind bars, however, he was given bail and released. The anti-terrorism court hearing the case had granted bail to the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) lawmaker on December 28 after ordering him to submit a Rs0.5 million surety bond.
