Six including drug peddlers, gamblers busted

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 26 outlaws including four drug peddlers and liquid sellers from different areas of the city and recovered 2575 gram hashish, 60 liters liquor and weapons with ammunition during the last 48 hours.
IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas had ordered crackdown against criminals including those involved in drug peddling and looting people. Following these orders, SSP Operations Faisal Kamran directed all zonal officers to accelerate their efforts to curb the crime in the city.
According to the details, Tarnol police team apprehended 04 accused namely Sadi Ahmed, Janbaz Khan, Khan Muhammad and Umar Shehzad and recovered four 30 bore pistols with ammunition from their possession. Likewise, Koral police team arrested 09 gamblers, involved in gambling on chickens fight namely Mumtaz Ali, Aizaz Abbasi, Suleman, Umar, Ahmed Ali, Abdul Majeed, Sharaab Gul, Aashiq Hussain and Meer Wali and recovered Rs. 1,15,000 from their possession.
Similarly, Bhara Kahu police arrested two accused namely Zar Muhammad and Muhammad Shehbaz during snap checking and recovered two 30 bore pistols with ammunition from their possession. Sabzi Mandi police arrested a drug peddler namely Ashfaq and recovered 1800 gram hashish from his possession. Aabpara police arrested a liquor seller namely Rizwan and recovered 60 litres of liquor from his possession. Kohsar police arrested three accused namely Waqas, Waseem Ullah and Talha and recovered one Kalashnikov and 30 bore pistol with ammunition from their possession.
Moreover, Golra police arrested two accused during checking namely Hameed and Usman and recovered one 30 bore pistol and a dagger from their possession. Shalimar and Sihala police teams arrested two accused namely Karamat Ullah and Kamir Khan and recovered 215 gram hashish and two 30 bore pistols from their possession. Noon and Industrial Area police teams cracked down on drug peddlers and arrested two accused Saleem and Harasib and recovered 560 gram hashish from their possession.
Cases against all the nominated accused have been registered and further investigation is underway.
IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younas has appreciated this overall performance of the police teams and further ordered to intensify the crackdown. “Safety and security of the citizens is our foremost priority and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard”, he added.
