Police officer made sexually suggestive remarks, claims Gujranwala survivor's family

GUJRANWALA: A police officer made sexually suggestive remarks while registering the case of an alleged rape, the minor survivor’s family claimed, while voicing their grief and unease.

Police said they filed a first information report (FIR) and arrested the suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted the 14-year-old girl. The suspect was identified as the survivor’s neighbour from the Ladhewala Waraich area, they added.

However, the family noted that the station house officer (SHO) in Gujranwala made the inappropriate comments and engaged in questionable actions during investigation.

The family further said they had protested against the SHO’s sexually suggestive remarks and actions and appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to take notice.

On the other hand, the superintendent of police (SP) in Gujranwala, Muazzam Ali, said the allegations against the SHO were being investigated.
