Kyrgyz, Turkmen FMs consider preparation for top-level visits

Bishkek: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting of the two ministers took place in Xi’an, China on the margins of the second China + Central Asia (C+C5) foreign ministers’ meeting.
Kazakbaev informed his Turkmen counterpart about the events of April 28-30, 2021 on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border that resulted in numerous human casualties, including civilian population of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the current situation in Batken Oblast of the republic and the measures taken to restore the infrastructure of settlements of Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, Minister Rashid Meredov welcomed the measures taken by the Kyrgyz side to resolve the conflict situation and supported Kazakbaev’s opinion that disputes should be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic methods.
The two foreign ministers discussed preparation for top-level visits and the implementation of regional economic projects.
A constructive exchange of views on peacebuilding in Afghanistan and cooperation in a multilateral format within the UN framework took place.
During the meeting, the foreign ministers of the two countries debated topical issues of Kyrgyz-Turkmen cooperation in the fuel and energy, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
