Imran directs railways minister to ensure safety standard after Sadiqabad train incident

Following the train incident in Sadiqabad which took the lives of at least nine and injured more than 35 people, Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid to take emergency steps to ensure safety.

The premier took to his Twitter handle and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured people in the incident.

“Have asked railways minister to take emergency steps to counter decades of neglect of railway infrastructure & ensure safety standards,” the prime minister added.

The railways minister has also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of lives in the accident. He also ordered investigation into the incident.

The incident took place on Thursday morning after Quetta bound Akbar Express collided with a goods train at Walhar near Sadiqabad. A rescue operation is underway and hydraulic cutters are being used. Emergency has been declared in the hospitals of Sadiqabad and Rahim Yar khan where the injured have been rushed to.
