Evidence from Sharjeel's sub-jail destroyed: Sindh Police

All evidence recovered from the sub-jail of Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sharjeel Memon has been destroyed, revealed the Karachi police chief.
The details came to light when DIG South Javed Alam Odho called for CCTV footage of the sub-jail to be played during an investigation of last week’s episode where bottles of alcohol were discovered in Memon’s hospital room, also a designated sub-jail for the PPP leader.
Odho learnt that after the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar’s surprise visit to the hospital, a person took bags containing crucial evidence from the room and returned with them after one and a half hour. It was also exposed that these bags were taken out of the room at least thrice.
The Karachi police further informed the sub jail is a secure spot and wondered how and why the bags were taken out of the room, which should have been sealed off to avoid the evidence from being manipulated like it did.
The DIG then questioned as to what was inside the bag, which the person took out of the room and then brought it back, saying this will now be investigated.
The recovered items from the sub-jail were first taken into possession of the jail staff.  However, the contents of the bags remain unknown while the person who constantly moved out with those is being interrogated.
The Karachi police while informing the DIG more on the progress said the detained man, whose identity can’t be revealed owing to security risks, is also being asked to reveal names of those who ordered him to move the incriminating bags.
