Courts should take notice of alleged video of judge: Premier

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the superior courts should take notice of the videos recently released by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

The PML-N leader released a video clip purportedly showing an accountability court judge allegedly admitting to a lack of evidence against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference. In December, the accountability court judge had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to seven years in prison in the same corruption case.

The premier while chairing a session of government spokespersons in Islamabad, said that the government won’t tolerate attacks on state institutions and would quash every conspiracy against them but the courts should take notice of the video.

According to official, PM Imran said that the courts are independent and the government is not mandated to respond to them, adding that the PML-N has a history of attacking the judiciary. The premier said that forensic audit of the video should be conducted.

PM said that the accountability process will not stop despite moves by the opposition, official told media.
