KARACHI: As the month of Ramadan is commenced from Wednesday in Pakistan, Chinese firms are tasked by the provincial Government of Sindh to clean Karachi, the country’s largest southern city during the holy month of fasting.
The Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has an agreement with Changyi Kangjie Sanitation Engineering Company and Hangzhou Jinjiang Company to collect garbage from the different districts of Karachi city. The companies have been working in the city of Karachi for the past many years removing waste and junk from commercial and industrial areas.
During a recent meeting, SSWMB directed the Chinese companies to keep the city clean during Ramadan, according to a press statement. The officials of the Chinese companies informed the city government that the companies were mobilizing all their team members in this regard. They are lifting garbage from the city while adopting international standards.
In District West and District Malir, the workers of Hangzhou Jinjiang Company would collect garbage from door to door. The Chinese company is also making mechanical sweepers on all major thoroughfares of the city. During Ramadan, the month of prayers, the city dwellers will not face any problems regarding cleanliness and the company would provide relief to them, according to SSWMB.
The Hangzhou Jinjiang Company is adding more vehicles to its fleet making the collection of garbage easier to make the city clean. The Chinese companies signed agreements with SSWMB in October 2016 to collect garbage from District South and take them to two waste stations in Hijrat Colony and Mewa Shah graveyards.
