Appeal on 'Azadi March' set for hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has set hearing of the petition against the ‘Azadi March’ of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman which is scheduled to take place on October 27 against the incumbent government.
According to details, IHC Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case on October 9 (Wednesday) against the ‘Azadi March’ and sit-in protest of JUI-F chief. Islamabad High Court Registrar’s Office has issued a cause list.
The petitioner requested to prevent Maulana Fazlur Rehman from holding the freedom march and demonstration in the capital. The Supreme Court and the Islamabad High Court have ordered fixed place to be the premises of protest and the sit-in should remain there to avoid disruption in routine of the people, petition read.
The petition filed by the citizen has made Interior Secretary, Secretary Education, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman a party in the case.
On Oct. 6, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman said that the whole country would turn into a battlefield once protests are started against the incumbent government.
