‘Glad that Paine isn’t Pakistan’s wicketkeeper’

Bureau Report

Karachi: Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal took a dig on his critics and opined that thankfully Australia’s skipper Tim Paine is not playing for Pakistan after he had a bad day as a wicketkeeper on Day five of the third Test against India at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
The 38-year-old Kamran said that every keeper drop catches but now he is waiting for his critics, who usually lambasted him on his poor wicketkeeping skills in the past.
“Australia would have been celebrating a win if they had taken their catches but it didn’t happen due to fielding. Every team can have good and bad days and Australians usually make fewer mistakes on the field but they made all their mistakes in a single day,” Kamran said on his YouTube Channel.
“It was a bad day for Tim Paine and every keeper drops catches but what can we say. I am glad that he wasn’t in Pakistan otherwise they would have said so many things regarding him. Now I will see what will be said by those people who have spoken about me,” he added.
“Nonetheless it was a great Test match and Aussies kept fighting till the end,” he maintained.
Note, Paine dropped three catches on Day 5 of the SCG Test and India went on to draw the Test while chasing a target of 407.
India managed to score 334 for five and bat out the final day. The series is level at 1-1 with the final match to be played at Gabba, Brisbane from January 15.
