Indian COAS reshuffles top Commanders at key formations

– With China at gates, Indian COAS removes Commander of 14th corps
– Commander of Northern Command, Central Command and Western Command also being changed

NEW DELHI: Indian army Chief General Bikram Singh, who is commonly known as Encounter Singh worldwide for his proved involvement in killing scores of innocent Kashmiris through fake encounters during his posting in the disputed valley, is believed to have decided to introduce yet another major reshuffle in the top Army brass, making several new appointments in key formations, including the Udhampur-based Northern Command of the force that deals with 14th corps of the Indian army, responsible for the security of Indo-China border area, well placed sources in the Indian army told this scribe on conditions of anonymity.
According to these sources, The Indian Army Chief has really gone too furious and panicky over the situation with regard to Chinese troops at the border with China and is not happy with the Commander of the Leh-based 14 Corps Lt. General Rajan Bakhshi as he presumes that General Bakhshi failed to deal appropriately with the development that took place under his command in Ladakh with regard to border dispute with China. He has ordered immediate departure of General Bakhshi from the command of 14th Corps, based at Leh that deals with Indo-China border area.
These sources sat that the current Commander of the Western Command of the Indian army, Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra is also set to be shifted to head the Northern Command. General Chachra, there would be replacing Lt Gen KT Parnaik, who is due to retire by the end of June. Similarly,Lt Gen Chachra is most likely to replaced by Lt Gen Philip Campose, who, at present is heading the Perspective Planning Directorate (PPD) at the Army headquarters here in New Delhi.
These sources say that the sitting Director General (IT), Lt Gen Sanjeev Madhok is being promoted and will be sent posted as the Chief of Indian Army’s Shimla-based Training Command. The Commander of Indian Army’s Central Command, Lt Gen Anil Chait is being transferred and he will be heading the Tri-Services Integrated Defense Services Headquarters in Delhi. The sources say that General Anil Chait will be replaced by Lt Gen Rajan Bakshi who is currently heading the Leh-based 14 Corps.
The Daily Mail’s findings indicate that last year, soon after his taking over as Chief of army staff of Indian, General Bikram singh created a great panic amongst the top commanders of the Indian army when he reshuffled almost all of them in a sudden move in August 2012.
