2 peace jirga members killed in South Waziristan

WANA: Armed men gunned two volunteers of former peace committee here on Monday and escaped the scene of crime.
Police said that two residents of village Shah Zamani of South Waziristan riding a motorcycle were on their way to Tank when four armed men ambushed them near Sheikh Market of the district.
Both bike riders identified as Shah Alam s/o Akbar Khan and Alam Khan Bitani s/o Noor Khan were critically injured and assailants.
The wounded people were shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Tank in precarious condition where they succumbed to their wounds. The bodies were handed over to heirs after postmortem.
The deceased had been volunteers of Gul Salam faction of former pro-government peace committees.
The police after registering a case against the culprits nominated in the attack have started raids for their arrest.
